CranioSacral therapy is a gentle hands on method which improves the function of the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. This technique was developed by osteopathic physician, John Upledger.

Even though craniosacral therapy is performed by a licensed massage therapist, it is not what you would expect from a massage if you are familiar with deep tissue or Swedish massage. The therapist during a craniosacral therapy session (CST) will use a very gentle touch and apply pressure that has the same feeling of weight that a nickel would have.

During a treatment the therapist is trained to release any restrictions in the craniosacral system improving function of the central nervous system. By aiding the body’s natural healing process, CST can help the client with health issues such as migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, stress related issues, TMJ and chronic back pain just to name a few.

This type of therapy is also very beneficial to those who are not able to tolerate hands on pressure due to certain injuries or illness.
